babyDear Reader,

Although none of us likes to think about it, we all know that our world has become increasingly toxic since the past century. The air is polluted, the water is polluted, the food is polluted. Anyone denying this fact should consider consulting a good psychiatrist to get help to get back to reality. Does it mean we’re all doomed to die of horrible and quite painful chronic diseases and suffer lots of pains on the way to our grave? I don’t think so! With the right lifestyle, diet and products choice, we all can regularly detoxify ourselves and stay healthy.

What about babies?

Fertility and pregnancy issues have been on the rise for the past decades. Some experts have called the attention of the medical professionals and government authorities on the effect of pesticides and other hormone disruptors for many many years. Now seems to be the time that their warnings are being heard. Since last year, the French government has taken action to protect expecting mothers and babies from toxic chemicals like parabens and phthalates in cosmetics. The French minister of Health proposes to introduce a specific label for cosmetics that are totally safe and don’t contain any of the toxic crappy chemicals. This decision was triggered by the recent discovery that regular use of products containing “safe levels” of toxic chemicals can accumulate in our bodies, contributing to our body burden and those of our children.

It’s all good in Europe, but what’s happening here in the US?

Phthalates remain unregulated in the US, except in California which restricted their use back in 2005. Although, this move was expected to shake up cosmetic companies nationwide, there has been no significant change to date. Same story for the parabens. This means that unless you carefully choose your cosmetics by reading their complete ingredient list and making sure that they don’t contain any crappy phthalates or parabens, you will most likely get a product which contain such chemicals. (find more about these chemicals in my previous blog)

ecocertSo?

If you are planning to have a baby, if you are already pregnant or if you have a baby, it’s more important for you to use certified organic cosmetics, as well as clean housecleaning products. Ecocert is the leading organic certification agency in Europe and all over the world. Its label is a guarantee of quality and that the product you’re buying is free of toxic chemicals and has been produced in a totally environment-friendly manner. At Nature Purity, none of our products contain any parabens or phthalates as they are all produced according to Ecocert rules. They are completely safe and can used by everyone, even the expecting mothers and babies.

Of course, if you can eat organic, it’s even better! But at least eat more fresh produces, and less processed foods. I will write an article for mothers and babies soon. Look for it!

If you want to read more about it, have a look at the great website ourstolenfuture by authors Dr. Theo Colborn, Dianne Dumanoski and Dr. John Peterson Myers; or find their book Our Stolen Future.

Meanwhile, please take care of yourself and of your loved ones.

Have a wonderful Spring equinox day!
